"I believe this might be the best gift I've ever gotten on the road," Kenny says. "It epitomizes all the heart and energy and passion that this crowd has, that this town has."
The Tennessee native started his run at Heinz Field in 2005, and has sold more than 300,000 tickets to the venue, including 53,000 this weekend. As a thank you, the Rooneys also presented Kenny with a Steelers helmet, singed by former Pittsburgh Super Bowl MVP and NFL Hall of Famer, Franco Harris.
Even though this was the eighth show on the Brothers trek, Kenny was able to make the night unique.
"Every once and a while you get a crowd that's just special, and you feel the night begin to turn," he said to his Pittsburgh audience. "All of a sudden, the stadium becomes a club."
The backstage area of the venue became that club's VIP room, with visitors including Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, and Hall of Fame quarterbacks Dan Marino of the Miami Dolphins and Jim Kelly of the Buffalo Bills.
Next, the Brothers of the Sun tour, which also includes Jake Owen and Grace Potter & the Nocturnals, is headed to Chicago, with the next stop taking place Saturday, July 7. Get a full list of tour dates here.
