Tim McGraw: Politics and Alcohol Don't Mix!

Tim McGraw shocked fans a few years back, when he said he might be interested in one day putting music on hold to run for a political office. But now it seems the country superstar is singing a different, sobering tune.

"That was back in my drinking days," Tim explains to the Minneapolis Star Tribune of his past political aspirations. "Who knows? I've been very fortunate. If one of these days I'm in a position where I can give back and feel like I'm smart enough to help and not just doing it for the hell of doing it, then it would be something I'd consider. But certainly it would be after my kids are grown."

The 45-year-old Democrat, who quit drinking several years ago to be a better example to his three daughters, is crossing the country this summer with good friend Kenny Chesney, along with Jake Owen and Grace Potter & the Nocturnals, on the Brothers of the Sun tour. The Louisiana native insists the sold-out crowds don't give him stage fright.

"The bigger the crowd, the better for me," he reports. "You get more nervous the smaller the crowd is. The intimate things are fun but it's more nerve-racking when you can see everybody. When there's 50,000 people, you sort of can just play to the back of the audience and have a great time."

The "Truck Yeah" singer's next show is in Chicago tomorrow (July 7), where he will give away a mortgage-free home to a veteran as part of his partnership with Operation HomeFront. See the complete list of upcoming stops on the Brothers of the Sun trek here.

He's the same weirdo that did that rant on youtube about when he was a kid he used to sh!t his pants in school, so he thought by talking to his d!ck and @$$h0le that he could magically touch them and say "Petey you're Pooter and Pooter you're Petey" and that would make him stop pooping his pants because they would"switch personalities", he was saying some really weird stuff...Then at the end he yelled "I'm a ni**er, Alan McCoy and screamed to make it sound like he was whistling to get someones attention...then he said the he liked the way Pebbles Flinstone could scream whislte with corn in her mouth, flipped of everyone and it was over...I think this dude has serious issues

You make me sick -- all the media hype that you and your wife FH are such great people and now you can't even own up to your own stupid comments "it's the drinking" you have so damn much it's disgusting we get by on next to nothing . Now you want to blame your actions on something other than your own ignorance. Shame on you !

I would question his politics after he voted for Obozo...no thanks. Stick to singing, Tim, and stop singing COVERS!!! Get some original music out there!

Too bad a few more poiticians in DC haven't figured out that alcohol and politics don't mix; namely a certain speak of the House of Representatives. I'm thinking it would be nice if he resigned stating that it is for the good of the country and to get himself sobered up. Just admit you're powerless over alcohol, sir. We already know that your life is unmanageable. You just don't realize that yet.

One problem Tim McGraw would have if he ran for office, is that his wife is STILL using the name of her FIRST HUSBAND. She was married to Dan Hill for 7 years, but still prefers his last name instead of her present husbands's name of McGraw. The voting public would not like this. There is NO politican in office whose wife wont use HIS last name, but instead uses the last name of her first husband. And the Youtube video showing Faith Hill showing very bad sportsmanship when Carrie Underwood beat her out at the CMA Awards show would also be played over and over by any opponent of McGraw's.

what is that suppose to mean, they don't have any genuine beliefs? they both believe in honesty and integrity and in hard work and raising their daughters through the church and they always put their family ahead of all else. their music career and any thing else has always had a back seat to raising their family. and they are very involved in several charities to help people. he is not interested in politics now,but he may be later when his career is not so strong.

Sorry Myra! I agree with you about them being really awesome people. I am one of Faiths biggest fans, I have read everything she and Tim have said since the late 1990s. My point was they both have made political statements over the years that are contradictory. I only meant that they don't seem to know their politics, just seem to go along with whats popular.

I would never vote for Tim. I like him as an entertainer, but he and his wife always seem to latch on to what is popular, don't really seem to have any genuine beliefs. Tim stick to singing, forget politics.

Maybe you're the one who should forget politics. S'pose? Yep, you should.
