Craig plays Dr. Bill Ray Higgins, a medical examiner who helps the show's main characters, Jane Rizzoli (played by Angie Harmon) and Maura Isles (Sasha Alexander), piece together clues to solve the murders of a husband-and-wife team of psychiatrists. The singer-songwriter got the role thanks, in part, to his newfound friendship with Angie Harmon, who appeared in his "This Ole Boy" video.
Craig has certainly been bitten by the acting bug. He also had a recurring role in Lifetime's TV show, "Army Wives," and has met with Hollywood directors to discuss other parts. He plays himself, though, on "All Access Outdoors," which airs on the Outdoor channel.
"Rizzoli & Isles" airs tonight at 9:00 PM ET on TNT.
