Brad Paisley, 'American Idol' Judge? Singer Reportedly Being Courted by Show

Getty Images for CMT

Is Brad Paisley the next country star to join a singing competition show? Blake Shelton can definitely attest to the positive effects from his time as a coach on "The Voice." The same can be said for Keith Urban, who appeared on the Australian version of the show. Jennifer Nettles just helped one of her protégés win the inaugural season of "Duets." And then there's John Rich, who is preparing for a stint on "The Next: Fame Is at Your Doorstep," which premieres Aug. 16.

Deadline.com reports that "American Idol" producers are "seriously considering" Brad for one of the empty chairs, left vacant by the departures of Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez. But a representative for the "Camouflage" singer tells The Boot that they have "no information to share" at this time.

Adding a country voice to the original singing competition show's judging panel could definitely be beneficial to the program, which has jump started the careers of a number of country singers, including Brad's duet partner Carrie Underwood, current tour opener Scotty McCreery and former tourmate Kellie Pickler.

As for the other slots on the "American Idol" panel, Mariah Carey recently signed on, and Deadline.com speculates that her co-manager and original "Idol" judge Randy Jackson will return. Additionally, the show may be making the move to a four-person panel, mirroring that of "The Voice" and "The X Factor."

I think adding Brad Paisley to American Idol, would work out great. He has a great resume and like a dozen top hit singles. He knows what the music business's looking for and he would make a great team with Mariah Carey and Randy Jackson. I know if he’s added to season 12 I think that could be enough to bring back viewers for record ratings. I’ve enjoyed my previous episodes more now that I can use the Auto Hop feature to skip commercials. I was impressed with this feature after my coworker at Dish showed me how it operated. This allows me to skip commercials on all my primetime recordings a day after they’ve recorded. This works perfect for me since I work nights and it’s about a day or more before I can watch my shows. This feature still allows me to watch my commercials it just removes the hassle of having to manually fast forward them. With this new feature I won’t have to use my remote as often and I can save money on replacement batteries.

I think it's a good idea especially since some of the winners are country singers. Brad is a very talented man and would make a good judge.

Anyone who claims that Adam Lambert does not have talent is just a very poor judge of talent and their opinion is meaningless. Adam amazed hundreds of thousands of people when he recently performed with Queen. He is the only American Idol judge who could bring me back to the show. I do not care if "Brad Paisley is a good family man" because it is irrelevant as to his ability to entertain me. Who cares if he can play guitar? No one in the music industry today can match Adam Lambert's vocal ability and this is a singing contest. Adam has perfect pitch and is the best live performer of this generation. Adam has the balls to give an honest, intelligent opinion. American Idol fans love Adam. Let him be the judge.

Brad Paisley has more talent in his little finger than flagwaver has period. He is a brilliant guitar player, a strong philanthopist, good family man, congenial and one of the best country has to offer. I believe if people who think they hate country, would listen to country, they would hear that many of the acts are actually crossover. Brad Paisley has as much right to be there as any other judge. It that excuse for talent, Adam Lambert sits in a judges chair then bye bye Idol for me. I can stomach someone so vain that has no talent.

Shouldn't you achieve something in life, before you cna judge. Having Adam as a judge on AI, would be like graduating from college, and then starting work as a teacher at that same college the next day.

yawn... nice people, but I don't wanna watch them "judge" (blow smoke) I'd rather people that really fun and slightly controversial, like Steven Tyler. So, Adam woulda been good. I don't want a country star who's super safe in his comments, we already have the The Voice for that.

Brad Paisley is mediocre at best...decent guitar player but average voice, stupid lyrics and zero charisma...
