'Teachers Rock' TV Special to Feature Carrie Underwood, Dierks Bentley

Carrie Underwood and Dierks Bentley both credit their schooling with helping them pursue their musical passions. Now the two are joining an all-star cast in paying homage to teachers and education all across America, in a CBS TV special, "Teachers Rock," airing August 18.

The country superstars will perform during the one-hour show, which will also feature pop group Fun. and singer Josh Groban. In addition, several stars will offer personal recollections of their own school memories, including Jennifer Garner, Adam Levine, Usher, Jack Black and Morgan Freeman.

"Teachers Rock," which is being presented by Walmart and the upcoming movie "Won't Back Down," will also include clips from the film about two determined mothers (played by Viola Davis and Maggie Gyllenhaal) who work hard to transform a failing inner-city school.

Carrie, whose mother and two sisters are all teachers, says her own choir teacher, Mrs. Cooper, helped pave the way for her successful career. "Mrs. Cooper's always been such a positive influence," Carrie told Tulsa World. "[She] gave me my first chance to perform on stage."

The live event will be take place Aug. 14 at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. Tickets will go on sale on Friday, July 27, and can be purchased here. Proceeds from the concert will benefit DonorsChoose.org, Feeding America and Teach for America.

"Teachers Rock" will air Aug. 18 on CBS at 8:00 PM ET.
