"I love the whole concept of it: moving from Nashville to L.A., which I did in 2001 when we did the 'Reba' TV show," the country icon tells "Entertainment Tonight."
On the show, Reba plays a mom of three who finds out her country star husband is cheating. She packs up the kids and moves to the very different world of Malibu, Calif., where she tries to resurrect her own music career. (Watch a preview of "Malibu Country" below.)
Iconic actress Lily Tomlin plays Reba's mother on the show. Reba describes Lily's character as an honest, "no B.S." kind of lady -- a perfect role for the comedic legend. "She's brilliant," Reba says. "I've seen her on Broadway, watched all her movies, saw her on "Laugh In" ... Getting to work with her is a dream come true. We all feel that way on the set."
The admiration is mutual.
"I always was impressed with her authenticity," says Lily of Reba. "I'd seen her on Broadway in 'Annie Get Your Gun,' and she was divine."
Other "Malibu Country" castmates include Sara Rue, Julietta Angelo, Justin Prentice, Jai Rodriguez and Owen Teague.
Reba will also act as an executive producer on "Malibu Country," alongside her husband Narvel Blackstock and former "Reba" producer Kevin Abbott, along with Mindy Schultheis, Michael Hanel, Pam Williams and musician Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics. ABC has picked up the first season of the show, but it is not yet known when the pilot episode will air.
