Willie Nelson, Sheryl Crow - 'If I Were a Carpenter' Video Premiere

One thing Sheryl Crow admired most about the late great Johnny Cash was his unwavering authenticity. "If he was going to sing a song, in order for him to embody that song he wanted to know exactly what the intention of it was," she says of the Man in Black. "That's one of the reasons that when we hear him, we believe him."

Sheryl and duet partner Willie Nelson mimic the late legend's genuine musical style in their heartfelt performance of his classic song with wife June Carter Cash, "If I Were a Carpenter." The duet was filmed back in April at a star-studded Johnny Cash tribute concert in Austin, Texas. The show, also featuring Kris Kristofferson, Train's Pat Monahan, Ronnie Dunn, Jamey Johnson, Shooter Jennings and several more of Cash's friends and admirers, was recorded and filmed for the CD/DVD set, We Walk The Line: A Celebration of the Music Of Johnny Cash, due in stores Aug. 7.

Like Johnny's and June's version much better.
They didn't really connect when both singing the song.

I've always liked this song, and I like Willie and Sheryl very much, but I don't find that bringing these three together has produced anything special, which is disappointing.

I'm forever spoiled by the Bobby Darin version. This lacks poignancy- as a duet, at least this seemingly rushed performance.
