Taylor Swift 'Red' Album to Hit Stores Oct. 22

Jon Kopaloff, FilmMagic

Taylor Swift's highly-anticipated fourth studio album will be titled Red, and will be in her adoring fans' hands Oct. 22.

"I've been working on it for two years and am so proud of it," the country superstar told fans worldwide in a web-chat Monday night (Aug. 13), during which she also unveiled the album's cover art: a profile of the blond beauty sporting her signature bright red lipstick and a hat that casts a shadow over her face. (See the Red cover below.)

"I'll buy that!" a fan in the live audience screamed upon the cover's reveal, getting a big laugh out of Taylor.

The singer-songwriter explains Red is also the title of a highly personal song on the album. It seemed like a no-brainer for her to title the album after that tune, as its lyrics encompass the entire theme of the project.

"Thinking about what that means to me and all the different emotions that are written about on this album -- they're all pretty much about the tumultuous, crazy, insane, intense, semi-toxic relationships that I've experienced in the last two years," she notes. "All those emotions -- spanning from intense love, intense frustration, jealousy, confusion -- in my mind, all those emotions are red. There's nothing in between; there is nothing beige about any of those feelings."

Big Machine Records

Red will have a whopping 16 tracks, for which Taylor jokingly thanked her record label for being "really, really nice" to let her do. She also hints there may be even more bonus tracks.

"I wrote so many songs for this album, it was really difficult to choose which ones would make it," she explains. "I ended up having to pick from between 30 to 35 songs that I had written that I really wanted to make an album."

Unlike her award-winning Speak Now album, on which she wrote every song by herself, Taylor's Red credits include a who's-who list of co-writers and co-producers -- though the only name she'll reveal for the time being is British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran.

"He is so cool, such a great artist," Taylor gushes of her friend. "We wrote a song while sitting on a trampoline! We loved it so much that we recorded it as a duet."

There's no word yet on the title of their duet, but we do know the title of the album's first radio single: "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together." (Listen to the song at the end of the web chat video below.) Co-written by Taylor, Max Martin and Shellback, the fun, pop-leaning song is about one of the 22-year-old star's ex-boyfriends and is what she refers to, in jest, as "a really romantic song ... touching and sensitive."

So just who is the new tune about? In true Taylor style, she's leaving that up to fans to figure out.

"I'm trying not to be too cryptic with it, but I'm trying not to give it all away," she smiles.

Sweet kid, but if it wasn't for the teeny boppers & their parents buying them everything their little hearts desire, she wouldn/t be so popular. she really doesn't sing all that good. Some talent as a song writer, but one track mind as far as what she writes. What gives??? All of her songs sound the same. All about breakups. Pleeeeeeeeeeze. Can't she sing about anything else??/

Taylor swift new sing will be debut in the 20 on the Country music charts and might hit number 1 on the hot 100, as the single is to hit 500 to 600k downloads this week alone, that has never been done by a female artist. and i cant wait for the all haters to start whining about Taylor. its going to be so much fun to watch them just go nuts about all the records she will be breaking.

All true, but Taylor has broken every record, passed every roadblock and made every new benchmark since she was fourteen. It's Taylor.

OMG! I swear, I was never a huge Taylor Swift fan, but she has me SOLD on her new single...LOL! I cracked up when I first heard it yesterday and man, that is an instant number one! I am amazed at how talented she is, to write her music herself. I wish she'd come out with it though on who the song is about, since I haven't kept up with who she's been dating for the past two years. lol. Dude surely pissed her off, and it's hilarious! This song will be found as a cross over too, since it has a pop feel to it. Very wise on Taylor's part, since that only brings more fans to the fan base.

I didn't know much about Taylor Swift and really didn't pay attention to her until I saw her sing MEAN on the Grammy Awards. I was instantly sold and know own all her music. An amazing talent and yes she can sing and her music makes hundreds of millions of people extremely happy. The last time that I listened to an artist to this extent was in 1964 when I first heard Meet The Beatles and yes I saw them in concert with my father. For those of you that put her down, stop being so dam jealous and get a life. She is the most amazing talent of her generation so get used to it because she is going nowhere but up. Rock on Taylor!!

Maybe its my age, but it seems that the writers on the net have nothing of interest but Taylor Swift and Miley Curus,,,Or the Kardasher gals.. Almost make me want to trash the Computer,, and go back to Six oclock news,,,lol
Taylor Swift has lots of talent for a very young crowd and it made her rich just like Hanna Montana ,, She is a class act and some what pretty but I prefere Patsy Cline and Brenda lee,,,lol And of corse Reba,,,,,
