Trace Adkins Washington Show Canceled Due to Wildfires

It's been just over a year since Trace Adkins lost his home to a devastating fire. Now, the country star's concert schedule has been interrupted by fires of an entirely different magnitude. Trace has canceled his performance tonight (Aug. 17) at the Swiftwater Cellars Amphitheater in Cle Elum, Washington, due to raging wildfires.

"I cannot in good conscience stage a concert this Friday while the community is under such strain," the singer says in a statement. "We have been following the developments closely and while the Swiftwater Cellars Amphitheater is not directly in the fire's path, Gov. Gregoire has declared a state of emergency and reports indicate that the fire, which has claimed 22,000 acres, will require up to seven more days before it is comfortably contained.

"I know all too well what residents are feeling as they evacuate their homes," Trace continues. "I thank God that reports indicate no loss of life. As the hundreds of firefighters, National Guardsmen and community leaders work overtime to keep everyone safe, I hope that those who have the means will also offer their help."

The country star is directing people to this website to learn how to help wildfire victims.

I'm sure that the precaution regarding the wildfires is warranted. Fans are disappointed I'm sure but they are also safe hopefully. Wildfires are so bad and burn so much acreage and so many residences. I wish there was a better way to handle them to reduce loss. The good thing is when there is no loss of life.

Guess they'll have to refund both ticket holders.

While we are sad that the show has been cancelled, our hats are off to Trace's reaction. Smoke can be smelt as far away as downtown Seattle from these fires. We will see you next chance we get. Have a good show in Aberdeen tomorrow night.
