'The Essential Martina McBride' Is News to Martina McBride!

The Essential Martina McBride, a 40-song collection of some of the country star's biggest hits and most beloved duets, will be released via RCA Nashville/Legacy Recordings on Oct. 22. The double disc set will reportedly span the songbird's career from 1992 - 2010, which were her years at RCA before signing a new deal with Republic Nashville.

As happy as this news is for her fans, Martina is a bit annoyed that her former label didn't consult her about the compilation. In fact, she found out about it at the same time fans did. "Wow! Kinda sucks that I had 2 find out on twitter that RCA is releasing a cd of 40 of my songs. #hopeIatleastgetafreecopy," she tweeted Monday (Sept. 17), adding, "Having said that I'm not mad about it. Just would have been cool to get a phone call. #iwonderwhatthecoverlookslike?"

She'll have to keep wondering for a bit. The cover image is still absent on Amazon's page for The Essential Martina McBride, as is the track listing. CMT reports that the set will include several duets, including "Still Holding On" with Clint Black, "Trip Around the Sun" with Jimmy Buffett, "Chances Are" with Bob Seger and "Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man" with Alan Jackson.

Why would they consult Martina on the project? When you no longer work for a company, they are under no obligation to include you in their day-to-day operations. nor are they under any obligation to contact you regarding work-for-hire material. At any rate, the set will no doubt do McBride justice.

Devinmcmusters: You really think she is after the money? ha ha You obviously dont know who Martina McBride is. She is one of the most kindest,sweet down to earth Country Female Vocalists of all time. She is the best out there!! Martina is very kind hearted, & very very talented. . She has givin back so much! Before you think Martina is just for the money like most celebs are, Get your facts straight! Heck just go find a Martina song guarantee a change of heart, or your (Sense Back) Lol She has done such an outstanding job in this world. God has done so much for this gifted lady. Thank you heavenly father for Martina McBride!

You know Martina personally? There are public personas and private personas. All you, as a superfan, know is the public persona. You don't have a clue who this woman is outside of singing.

I love Martina's music. I will definitely buy this album but they should have told her they were doing this instead of her finding out on twitter. That did suck how they treated her.
