Little Big Town's 'Tornado' Touches Down at No. 1!

Scoring the best first-week album sales of their career, Little Big Town has taken their critically-acclaimed fifth album, Tornado to the No.1 spot on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart. The disc is also at No. 2 on Billboard 200 chart, just behind the new one from the Dave Matthews Band and one spot ahead of Bob Dylan's latest, Tempest.

According to Nielsen Soundscan data, Tornado sold just shy of 113,000 units in its first week of release, which more than doubles the first-week sales of the foursome's 2010 album, The Reason Why. Tornado is the band's second consecutive chart-topping album, and the chart-storming quartet also spent two weeks at No. 1 on Billboard's Country Songs chart with their now-platinum-certified single "Pontoon."

The group's second single from Tornado is the just-released title track. According to the band, it's a title that suited the project perfectly.

"The process [of making the album] also kind of felt like a storm," LBT's Karen Fairchild tells The Boot. "Fast and furious and overwhelming and quickly gone. It feels like there's a really good storm brewing in our camp. Something that comes through every once in a while and it's really good, but it's powerful and just a change in the air twirling around. It's a tornado in a good way."

In other chart news, Kix Brooks' first post-Brooks & Dunn album, New to This Town, debuts at No. 10. Other debuts this week include Chris Knight's Little Victories (No. 25), Bucky Covington's Good Guys (No. 30) and the Time Jumpers self-titled disc featuring Vince Gill (No. 49).

Little Big Town will perform "Tornado" on NBC's "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon" on Wednesday, Sept. 26.
