"It still amazes me that people spend their hard-earned money to come and hear me sing, and that's a cool feeling," she tells Nashville's Tennessean newspaper. "But there is always the worry and the disbelief that people aren't going to come."
The Oklahoma native's last two tours -- 2008's Carnival Ride the 2010 Play On trek -- played for well over two million fans, but that success isn't enough for Carrie to let her guard down. "I'm a competitive person, so I want it to be bigger and better," the singer-songwriter explains. "We'll take elements that really worked in the last show and build those up. Way back when I was going to concerts, I would have to sit in the back, so I want to give them something really special, too. We have a way to get back there this time."
The blond beauty reveals her entire concert is divided into acts, based on which songs work well together. But some elements, including her wardrobe, will be a surprise to everyone. "I don't want to wear the same clothes every day," Carrie insists, adding that she has three wardrobe possibilities for each act. "I would get bored with that, and I think other people might, too. We try to keep it interesting all the way through the tour."
The songstress is married to professional hockey star Mike Fisher, who plays for the Nashville Predators. But while the couple had prepared for months of separation while they both traveled the country for their careers, the recent National Hockey League lockout, which canceled all games through September 30, has a silver lining for the Season Four "American Idol" winner.
"Is it wrong for me to be a little happy [about the lockout]? I mean, 'I'm sorry for you, but it's great for me,'" Carrie jokes.
Carrie will take time off from her Blown Away tour on Nov. 1, when she and Brad Paisley will serve as co-hosts of the 46th annual Country Music Awards -- and where she has a chance of taking the stage as a winner for the Female Vocalist trophy, as well. The 46th annual CMA Awards will air live on Nov. 1 at 8:00 PM ET on ABC.
