Jason Aldean Cancer Benefit Honors Late Friend

Arlene Richie, jpistudios.com

Jason Aldean is headed to Texas to raise money for breast cancer research. Every year, the hitmaker hosts a benefit for local affiliates of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure charity, and the seventh annual Concert for the Cure will be held on the final date of the 2012 My Kinda Party Tour in Dallas.

"This is one of the nights I look forward to most every year," says Jason of the event which honors his late friend, Melissa, who died of breast cancer at 29. "I'm really proud of the money we've raised so far, and it feels great to be able to honor our friend who passed away at such an early age from breast cancer. Everyone has been affected by this disease at some point, and I want to do my part to help find a cure before my daughters grow up. I know Dallas is ready to help us!"

The event continues to raise much needed funds for cancer research, while also keeping Melissa's memory alive. "The day she passed away, my family decided that we would always do something to carry on her memory and to help in the fight," the Georgia native explains. "Everybody I know has been touched by it; they say a woman dies every 69 seconds from [breast cancer]."

The Oct. 27 Concert for the Cure sold out this summer in just four minutes, with more than 20,000 tickets purchased. See a full list of Jason's concert dates here.

The country superstar's highly-anticipated album, Night Train will hit shelves Oct. 16.
