Trace Adkins Is Newest American Red Cross Spokesman

Artist, actor and activist Trace Adkins is the newest spokesman for the American Red Cross. The "Tough People Do" singer is urging fans and fellow Americans to do make charitable donations, send cards to servicemen and women and donate blood as part of the 2012 American Red Cross Holiday Giving Campaign.

"When my home was claimed by fire last year, the Red Cross was among the first on-site," the 50-year-old recalls. "They looked after my family when I couldn't be there and offered to help in any way they could. We were fortunate because we only lost 'things' that could be replaced. That's not the case for every victim of disaster and that's when the Red Cross steps in. From personal experience, I am supporting the Red Cross and their work to unite families and aid in times of need."

The Red Cross is offering an online catalog for tax-deductible charitable donations that would provide shelter, as well as basic necessities, for disaster victims and military comfort kits. In addition to being the voice of the charitable organization, Trace has joined Jamie Lee Curtis, LL Cool J, Josh Duhamel and other stars as a member of the Red Cross National Celebrity Cabinet.
