"[The EP] keeps the summer rolling along," Jake explains to CBS Local. "These days, if you can put out stuff instantly with iTunes and Spotify, I figured we need to break the mold a bit and stop waiting a year or two before putting out new music."
While the singer-songwriter has certainly packed plenty into the last few months, nothing compares to his feelings about impending fatherhood. "It's super cool [that] we have our little girl on the way, so I'm really excited," he gushes. "Why is it that nine months in any other time of your life seems like it takes a year or longer, but nine months when your wife is pregnant seems like it's gone by in nine days?"
The "The One That Got Away" singer will kick off his headlining trek -- with openers Love and Theft and Florida Georgia Line -- on Oct. 10. CMT on Tour Jake Owen: The Summer Never Ends 2012 will visit 19 different cities before it wraps up in December. However, that doesn't mean the papa-to-be miss the birth of his daughter -- who is due in November.
"I'm going to be there," Jake confirms. "That's gonna be something I'll remember for the rest of my life."
