Keith Urban Defends Nicki Minaj, Mariah Carey Amidst Feud

Despite what you've heard about the behavior of the newest "American Idol" judges, Keith Urban is still enjoying the ride. As the rumors continue to swirl of a feud between Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj, corroborated by a video posted on YouTube of a particularly explosive argument, Keith's attitude is unfazed by the on-screen drama. The singer-songwriter responded to questions about the blowup with good humor, referring to himself as the United Nations.

"I love it ... I love working with passionate people," Keith told "Extra" in regards to outburst. "I love artists. Everyone just sort of expressing themselves. It's a very alive and very invigorating work environment. A lot of passion."

"Randy [Jackson] is the craziest, so you know unpredictable," the 44-year-old joked.

The argument between the two songstresses appears to continue to brew, as Mariah revealed she hired extra security after feeling unsafe following an alleged threat from Nicki. The rapper reportedly said, "If I had a gun, I would shoot that b----," referring to the pop singer.

Nicki refuted the charge, and responded with a tweet yesterday (Oct. 4) saying, "All I do is compliment u. That's not enuff? Ur a legend, cheer up. U don't have to run down ur resume or feel intimidated. Shady McGrady..."

However, the "For You" singer is confident, even as the only country star, that he'll be able to navigate the 'Idol' waters. "I know how to handle myself. I'll be just fine," he told Chicago radio station WUSN. "It's an unpredictable environment."

Keith is putting the finishing touches on his upcoming album while he travels the country for the "Idol" auditions.

Pleas get rid of Minaj before she kill someone for real. Mariah do not need the stress of looking over shoulders because of this piece of trash. I would be glad to sign a petition to fire Minaj. I say fire her NOW!!!!!

Minaj should be going to jail for what she said.........horrible. Because she is a "celeb", loosely stated, she gets away with it. This is not right and should be investigated. What a terrible person. Not funny at all.

I have not missed a single segment of A.I. since it's inception....with these new judges I highly doubt I'll be tuning it..................terrible group of replacements....

I feel bad, that these two woman, and pray by the time it starts, they will be able to at least work together as adults, and get along for the show's sake, as I love the show, and to see J-LO go, upset me.. I hope they are keeping Steve and Randy. I love both of them. Hopefully this will past, and all will be ok. I watched everyone from the start of America Idol, and alway's enjoy the shows... I love Keith, I think all of the people, will do very well. If Steve is no longer on there, I will be very upset, and hope they at least tell us why? He's not? darleklo-Angel

According to a statement on The View today, American Idol staff overheard the comment by Maraj that if she had a gun she would shoot that........... That is a threat and that is why Marriah got the extra security. That show should have a zero tolerance for anyone threatening to use a gun on someone. Because of contracts, the show will try and white wash this. No respect for Minaj.

This show will die a long and painful death this year as the IDIOT judges make sure to kill it off!!

I know this is a lot to ask, but can anyone at American Idol wake up and see that the vast majority of people out here can not stand this Nicki Minaj piece of trash that you put on the judges panel for this year!!!!!!!

Get rid of Minaj now. Besides, you only need three judges. Four judges take away from the time allotted to the singers.
