"The main thing is that me and my family are OK, and everything's good there," Jason tells CMT about his relationship with wife, Jessica. "It's been a tough deal, but I said what I needed to say to them and, hopefully, they understand that. The rest of it will be us dealing with it in private and trying to fix it."
The 35-year-old quickly issued an apology after the pictures were initially posted on TMZ, saying that he "screwed up" and "let the party get out of hand and acted inappropriately at a bar." "You can go hide and run from it, or you can get up and face it and deal with it," he notes. "That's what we tried to do, and move on."
Still, Jason is grateful for those who have stood beside him throughout the entire experience. "I know everybody's going to have their opinion, and for the people that know me and know what I'm about ... the people that are standing by us and supporting us, all I've got to say to them is thanks," he says. "I really appreciate it, and it's been a really unfortunate thing. Really embarrassing, more than anything ... It's good, though. So for everybody that stood by us, I appreciate it."
Time will tell if the incident will affect Jason's nominations at the 2012 CMA Awards. The hitmaker, who will perform during the ceremony, is in the running for three trophies, including Entertainer of the Year.
The 46th Annual CMA Awards will air live from Nashville on Nov. 1 at 8:00 PM ET on ABC.
Night Train will be released on Oct. 16.
