"I always go into the studio to make the best record I can possibly make, and this one is no different," says the superstar. "But freedom is a powerful word. To come into a situation where there's some weight lifted, some refreshment going on, you can feel that in the music. I think you can feel the horses gallop on this record, and where I might go and what I might do when my engines are revving."
A group of invited guests had the opportunity to share that freedom with Tim when he debuted several songs from the album with a live performance in Nashville. The superstar entertainer seemed to be having as much fun on stage as those who were invited to witness the magical event.
"Any time you get to play new music it energizes you," he says. "Playing new stuff and knowing I have an album coming out, and knowing it's sort of a new day in my career, I was really energized."
Tim debuted his new single, "One of Those Nights," on the CMA Awards show last week, and says he was drawn to the tune because, "It's one of those songs that just puts everybody in a time and place. No matter if you're 60 or if you're 16, you can relate to that song. Everybody sort of creates their own video to that song when they hear it."
"One of Those Nights" is the follow-up single to "Truck Yeah." Two Lanes of Freedom will be in stores and available at online retailers Feb. 5, 2013.
Tim and wife Faith Hill will begin their concert residency at the Venetian in Las Vegas on Dec. 7. The couple's "Soul2Soul" show has a preliminary 10-week run.
