Blake Shelton, Michael Buble Christmas Duet Hits 'Home' for the Holidays

Blake Shelton and Michael Bublé are now forever linked by "Home," the song Michael co-wrote and recorded in 2005 and Blake covered in 2008. And although they've performed the tune together on a few occasions, the country superstar was still apprehensive to ask the singer's permission to use the song again, this time on his Cheers, It's Christmas album. Still, he sent the pop crooner an email saying he hoped to record a holiday-themed version of the tune. Ultimately, Blake asked Michael not only to write a seasonal version of the song but to sing with him on it as well.

"I had the idea of doing a Christmas version of 'Home,'" Blake tells CBS Local. "Because the song would kind of lend itself to the holidays anyway. That's when you really miss home. I felt really stupid asking that question because he is Michael Buble."

Blake says the Canadian-born singer was "excited he had a country hit as a songwriter" and recalls that the two had sung the song together a few times at Michael's concerts.

"We filmed a David Foster special together where we sang the song together," he adds.

Obviously, the two found harmony outside of the Yuletide duet. Michael joined Team Blake as a mentor on this season of the hit NBC singing competition, "The Voice." They'll also perform the song together on Michael's "Home for the Holidays" special, airing Dec. 10 at 10:00 PM ET on NBC. That's exactly one week after Blake's "Not So Family Christmas Special," airing Dec. 3, also on NBC.
