"Some of my earliest memories are of Christmases, because its such a big deal to me," the recently crowned CMA Entertainer of the Year explains. "Everything from the event to the music to the Christmas specials that used to come on TV when I was a kid: "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" and the "Baby New Year" special. I always knew I wanted to make a Christmas album, if I ever could, now the Christmas special is the icing on the cake. To be able to do it the way we wanted to -- which is to have fun with it, goof around, and make people laugh, but still do the best we can as far as making some great music along the way -- NBC allowed us to do that and this has been a blast."

In addition to his family members, "The Voice" coach invited some of his famous friends to lend their talents. "I wanted to have people on this show that are friends of mine, that I'm close to," the Oklahoma native says. "Everybody from my mom to my wife, all the way to Christina Aguilera, Jay Leno, Kelly Clarkson and Reba McEntire. That's what Christmas is to me, including all the people you think a lot of, so that's what we did for the special."
All that being said, it may be a good idea to tuck the kiddos in before turning on this special. "It says it all in the title of this show, 'Not So Family Christmas,'" the crooner admits. "Me as an artist is not necessarily me as a TV personality. I like to kick and push the limits as much as I can. I'm not an actor or comedian, but I'm also not somebody that is ever serious. I wanted that to be a part of these skits and I wanted to be edgy ... It's important for people to see country music in that light too."
"Blake Shelton's Not So Family Christmas" airs Dec. 3 on NBC. See another funny clip from the show here.
