The singer-songwriter and his band members had been participating in the No Shave November challenge, in order to raise money for St Jude Children's Research Hospital. As of Friday, their team alone had raised $10,443 for the cause, according to Country Aircheck. However, on Nov. 30, the former "American Idol" got a call from a big wig he works with, saying they would make a considerable donation, if he took it all off on stage.
"For the record, this is the weirdest thing I've ever done in my life," Casey told the crowd in Shreveport, La., as he took an electric razor to his scruff.
Overall, the No Shave November initiative raised more than $100,000 for the families of St. Jude. The funds will benefit children suffering from cancer who are treated -- free of charge -- by the facility. The disease and cause are one that has personally affected Casey.
"My family has been really affected by cancer," the Texas native told The Boot. "My Nana died of cancer, my Pawpaw passed away May 11 of last year of cancer. My mom is a two-time cancer survivor."
Casey is currently on the road. His next stop is Dec. 6 in Goliad, Texas. See more dates here.
