So when Hurricane Sandy -- one of the most damaging hurricanes in U.S. history -- hit, it was a no-brainer. The country star decided to use his new song's video to encourage fans to donate to the Red Cross to help those affected by the devastating storms. (Watch it below.) In exchange for your generosity, Gary is giving a free download of an acoustic version of "Every Storm (Runs Out of Rain)." Click here to donate and get your free mp3.
The "Every Storm (Runs Out of Rain)" video was filmed at an old slaughter house in East Nashville. "It looks like an apartment complex with the walls blown out of it," Gary explains. "We shot up on the roof; we put the whole band up there underneath some rain machines."
The video depicts a young woman who is clearly depressed, missing her loved one. But just like the lyrics, the clip has a happy ending.
Gary co-wrote his latest single with Hillary Lindsey and Matt Warren, who came up with the idea after a frustrating day.
"Matt was having a dry spell," Gary recalls. "He was mowing and weedeating and hit something with his weed eater, and it hit him in the eye. So he came in (to the writing session) saying, 'I'm so sick of mowing lawns. We need a hit.'"
