"The last album, we sold 194,000 or something [the first week], so I just want it to do better than the last one on the first week," Jason told The Boot and other reporters at a press event the week of Night Train's release. "If [Night Train] would've sold 195,000, that would have been all right. As long as we didn't come out and sell 20,000 the first week, I'd have been a little pissed. [laughs]"
That first week brought roughly 409,000 units sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan data, and the No. 1 spot on the multi-genre Billboard 200 albums chart. Now, the project joins Jason's first four records in the million units club, with the exception of My Kinda Party, which has gone double platinum since its November 2010 release.
Also earning some wall bling is Lady Antebellum with their holiday offering, On This Winter's Night. The Christmas album, which was also released in October, has been certified gold by the RIAA for sales exceeding 500,000 units.
