Emmylou Harris, Car Accident: Country Legend Investigated for Alleged Hit-and-Run

According to TMZ, 65-year-old country legend Emmylou Harris was investigated by California officials after an Oct. 1 car accident.

The site reports that the singer allegedly hit into another car while driving a rental car on a Los Angeles freeway and drove off without stopping or exchanging insurance information with the other driver. Therefore, the California Highway Patrol opened a hit and run investigation after the other driver filed a report on what happened.

The file will be sent to the District Attorney, who will decide if Emmylou should be prosecuted.

Emmylou's rep confirmed to TMZ that she was involved in a "minor traffic accident" and acknowledged, "She unintentionally rubbed bumpers with another vehicle." The rep said that the singer left the scene because she didn't realize the cars made contact, adding that it's a "garden-variety accident that happens everyday on the 405."

No other information was readily available.

I bumped a bumber before and the other car waved me on. I done the same. A bump to someone car is only a major issue in CA. The only fame ****** are the LA District Attorney's and traffic cop.

What? Now we going to have to make "Free Emmylou"T shirts ".
Leave my beloved Emmylou alone. The guy should be painting a sign Emmylou touch my car here.

I don't think she's trashy (or current) enough to get off easily like Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie, Amanda Bynes, Lindsay Lohan-she's proabably going to be treated like a normal person.

I can totally understand how one can unknowingly tap another car when traffic or weather conditions are crazy. It happened to me in a rain storm. The other car got a slight bump and I would have driven away...until my whole front bumper fell off. Typical parking lot stuff in my case. Ms Harris is not just a wonderful entertainer but truly a kind and caring person toward her fans. I can't imagine her maliciously slamming someone with her car and then driving off. "Hit and run" sounds a bit severe to me. The press and perhaps some money hungry "victim" are just running with this to get as much mileage (no pun intended) as possible. Let her settle up and get on with it.

This is BS! How does she not know her "car touched another car"? If she's that senile, perhaps it's time to hang up the driving days.

If only we could all be so flippant.
