Jon Jones Baby News: Eli Young Band Bassist Welcomes First Child on New Year's Eve

Congratulations to Eli Young Band member Jon Jones and his wife, Sarah, who are the proud parents of a baby boy! Hudson Lennon Jones was born on Dec. 31 in a hospital near Ft. Worth, Texas.

"We are ecstatic about this beautiful baby boy that came into our world," the couple tell People magazine. "Words cannot describe our excitement and joy."

The baby, who was due around Christmas, made a seamless entrance. "Sarah and I feel very fortunate that we were able to stick to our birth plan and have Hudson naturally," Jon reports. "The birth was extremely smooth. We left our house at 10:00 AM for the birthing center when contractions were four minutes apart and he was born just a few short hours later. We had a great birth team who helped us through everything."

EYB had a New Year's Eve gig already scheduled in Oklahoma, but Jon enjoyed a rare evening off. "The rest of the band went on stage without me for the second time in our careers," the bassist adds. "They are truly great friends for letting Sarah and I share this wonderful experience together. We were home within four hours of the birth to celebrate New Year's Eve as a family -- mostly holding Hudson in amazement."

Jon will have a few weeks off before the Eli Young Band hits the road in 2013, and he plans on cherishing every second. "We are all still settling in to our new lives and are learning something new every minute," he says. "I could not be more proud of my wife and could not be a happier father."

Hudson isn't the first addition to the Eli Young Band crew in 2012. Lead singer Mike Eli welcomed daughter Kline Olivia Diaz in July.

The group have a few solo dates scheduled before they kick off their run with Kenny Chesney on his No Shoes Nation tour on March 16 in Tampa, Fla. See more of their upcoming shows here.
