"Woo-hoo!" shouted the band's Kimberly Schlapman. "We wanted one of these for so long!"
"This is such a long time coming for us," added bandmate Phillip Sweet. "We're so thrilled!"
The talented group received their first Grammy nominations in 2007: Best Country Album for The Road to Here and Best Country Duo/Group Performance for "Boondocks." In 2009, they went home empty-handed again after being up for Best Country Collaboration for "Life in a Northern Town" with Sugarland and Jake Owen. Last year, LBT was also passed over for Best Country Duo/Group Performance for "Little White Church."
This year, they best the Eli Young Band, Taylor Swift and the Civil Wars, the Time Jumpers and Don Williams and Alison Krauss. "Pontoon" was also the winner of Single of the Year at November's CMA Awards.
