DALLAS - Country music star Randy Travis has performed at the memorial service for slain ex-Navy SEAL sniper Chris Kyle.

Travis told the thousands gathered at Cowboys Stadium on Monday that he was glad to be there, adding that he never met Kyle, but wished he had.

Travis then began playing his guitar and singing "Whisper My Name," which he said Kyle's wife had told him was a meaningful song for the couple. Travis also sang "Amazing Grace."

Kyle and his friend Chad Littlefield were shot and killed Feb. 2 at a North Texas gun range.

Travis has had a string of run-ins with the law over the past year. Last month, he pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated in August 2012, when police found him naked after crashing his car.

He steps up to pay respect to an American Hero and you feel the need to bring his legal issues into the story? WTH is wrong with you, other than NO morals or respect!

George Jones Fan Passes in Greenville Texas

GREENVILLE, TX — Jimmie Joyce Whisenhunt, 86, passed away on Feb.7, 2013, in Greenville. She was born on May 30, 1926, to her loving parents James (Jim) and Hattie Lamm in Greenville,TX.
She lived in Tidwell until she was about 12 years old. She went to Lamar school in Tidwell until she moved to the Wolfe City School District.
Mother began taking piano lessons at around 10 years old but stopped after a year because she could play anything that she heard and did not need to read music.
Jimmie, two cousins and a friend from Lamar School formed a quartet when she was around Ten and were highly sought to perform by churches all around the area.
She loved to perform.
She was an expert at crawdad fishing. When she was a little girl, she and her little sister Nell, would catch a tub full of crawdads and her momma would fry up the tails for the family. Mother said they were delicious.
Momma and her little sister were quit the little rascals also. When they pulled a prank or they were in trouble they would run and hide because they could outrun thier momma.
The cat in the picture with mother was named “Webby”. She loved cats. The picture was taken when she was 12 yrs old after being sick with the Flu. Her older sisters had fixed her hair in a popular style of that time called rats.

Two months after her husband died in 2007 on Valentine;s Day, her cat named “Wart” died. Being heart broken for the second time during a short period. God sent her another cat named “Rascal” through veterinarian Patricia Rife in Greenville TX. It was love at first sight for both of them.
Rascal and Webby look liked they came from the same litter though they were born decades apart.
Jimmie went to work at Temco in 1952; she was the 53rd employee hired at the plant. Her husband, J.C., was hired as the 59th employee. She met J.C. through her cousin, Bob Harwell, at Temco and they were married Oct. 17, 1953.
J.C. and Jimmie got married in Greenville, Miss. across from the Williamson County Courthouse in Greenville Mississippi. That was the only state they could find that did not require a blood test as she had an extreme fear of needles.

Momma was a huge fan of country music; George Jones, Tammy Wynette, Dolly Parton, Porter Wagoner, June Carter and Loretta Lynn were among her favorites. She could sing and play any song they did.
Her most favorite male country singer was Hank Williams. She played and sang “Your Cheating Heart,” “Jambayla” and “I Saw the Light” many times.
When the “Hank Williams Story” was made into a movie, she took her son Rickie Joe to see it at the Texan Theater in Downtown Greenville Tx. She said that Hank’s son did a good job singing his Dad’s songs; actually haviing a better voice than his Dad\'s. Jimmie Joyce instilled her love for music in her three boys.

Our Mother was The Most Beautiful Angel with which God could have Blessed Us.

Arlene, I'm in total agreement with your sentiment. It's so distasteful and disrespectful to include it in an article that is about Randy's tribute performance at a memorial service for someone who has just died, it didn't matter who it was and what the circumstances were. But that is AP reporting for you. Disgusting! I wish they'll just remove it.

Keep in mind that most news organizations have cut their staff to the bare bones, so probably a teenage intern wrote this drivel.
The mainstream media hate to honor true heroes like Chris Kyle.
