Mindy McCready Dead: Singer Dies From Apparent Suicide

Mindy McCready has died from what Arkansas police suspect was a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

This news comes more than a week after the 37-year-old was released from a treatment facility for alcohol abuse. She had also undergone a mental health evaluation after family members questioned her ability to care for her two sons, 6-year-old Zander and 10-month-old Zayne. The late singer-songwriter was 10 days into her 21 day outpatient treatment, following the Jan. 13 death of her boyfriend, and Zayne's father, David Wilson.

"She was released because they think she is mentally stable enough, and she was tested for drugs and alcohol and everything came up fine," a source told E! News after Mindy's Feb. 7 release. "One of the reasons they released her is she didn't have any symptoms of what an alcoholic would have. There were no signs she had a problem to the doctor."

In January, the singer appeared on the "Today" show to address suspicion that she had been involved in Wilson's death, after officials began further investigation to determine whether the music producer had committed suicide. NBC's Andrea Canning asked the mother of two point blank if she killed her "soulmate." "Oh, my God, no. Oh, my God, no," she answered. "He was my life. We were each others' life."'

Rumors had circulated that the pair had fought over Wilson having an affair. Mindy confirmed an argument the night of his death, but said the accusation of infidelity was "absolutely, totally untrue."

While it is still unclear whether Wilson's gunshot wound was self-inflicted or not, when questioned Mindy wasn't able to answer whether she believed he had taken his own life or been murdered.

Mindy's children are presumably still in the custody of the Department of Human Services in Arkansas, where they were reportedly placed upon her involuntary commitment earlier this month.

Unless you have ever experienced what it feels like to have major depression, you will never understand the profound feelings of despair. Many people say they just don't see how someone could end their life. The day in and day out feelings of impending doom, despair, sadness, aching, worthlessness, uncontrollable crying, anxiety, and I could go on and on, wear on a person so long they do not want to be in this life anymore. Having had suicide in my family, I know how it destroys everything. It is an undescribable loss you will never forget. A pit in your stomach and heartache that very slowly you learn how to put in the right place over time. Time. That's the word and the only thing that heals this devastation. I pray for the children and family in this terrible tradgedy. Maybe people should stop judging. It only shows ignorance!! Try helping someone instead of being judge, jury, and convictor!

Geesh I have never seen trolls come out like they have here and on youtube. Such a shame that their lives are so empty that they can spend DAYS just trying to upset her fans.I am a fan of Mindy's and I pray for her and for her boys.

So sad. Mindy should have gone to get more help. Perhaps if she could have gotten counseling, along with the drug therapy, she would still be here!

Police SUSPECT was a self-inflicted gunshot wound. What if someone else did it----for other reasons? "She was released because they THINK she is mentally stable enough, and she was tested for drugs and alcohol and everything came up fine." This came from professionals? Something is not right. Always sit back, take a deep breath and consentrate.

Another "DRUG ******* PARASITE" bites the dust. Why don't we teach our "RICH ENTERTAINERS" to be something else besides parasites on society and to cope with the trials of life with something else besides "DRUGS AND SUICIDE."

It is sad that someone should take their own life. There really is no reason for that. However she also shot her dog before taking her own life. There really is no excuse for shooting that innocent animal, just because you are planning on killing yourself. The dog trusted you and look how she repaid that unconditional love and trust. Truly sad in both instances.

I'm sure that standing ether on the porch in the same spot her boyfriend killed himself, her children gone. Parents screwing up her life again. Maybe even having lost her sobriety as well. I am sure in that moment of despair, she was in her right mind and could make the choices someone who was in their right mind would make. Geesh she killed HERSELF because she wanted to end the pain. Maybe in her way she was doing the same for the dog since it would be losing everyone as well. She wasn't in her right mind and let's all hope we would never know or feel what she did at that moment.
