Loretta Lynn Ranch Fire Destroys Building on Legend's Property

HURRICANE MILLS, Tenn. -- Fire has destroyed the cook shack at country singer Loretta Lynn's Dude Ranch.

WSMV-TV reported the fire broke out around 6:30 p.m. Thursday on the ranch at Hurricane Mills in Humphreys County. There were no injuries.

The shack was used to prepare food for trail riders at the ranch in western Middle Tennessee.

The flames did not endanger Lynn's home.

The house, though, was damaged by recent storms that also mowed down hundreds of trees on the 6,000-acre property.

Lynn chronicled her life in an autobiography and song, both entitled "Coal Miner's Daughter."

She was born in the coalfields of eastern Kentucky.

Speaking from experience: we"re not here to be liked but to do a job. From the time we sign a contract we become a "commodity" and it matters not how we long to be true to our roots in country, songs I'd written weren't moneymakers. Audiences weren't gentlemen and our lives became a hard sad song. I believe the largest percentage of women professionals have class. You only hear about the rare exceptions... think about it, when was the last time Loretta made the news for "planting posies with Kelly Pickler?' Boring right? Go easy on the girls. They live please YOU! Keep you scooters shiny y'all.

Loretta is truely the Queen of Country music but all these snide remarks about other great singers are not needed. Loretta is my neighbor and she does not think snide remarks about others. She paved the way for many great singers and so did the great, late, Ms. Tammy Wynette, Dolly Parton, Kitty Wells, Patsy Cline, Dottie West, Crystal Gayle, Barbara Mandrell, of course Loretta will go down in history as the famale Hank Williams Senior personality. Taylor, Kelly Pickler, Reba, Lori Morgan, Carrie Underwood will have their place in the history of country music also but Loretta will always be the greatest country music star to shine because she not only sang great, wrote great songs about life, she lived what she sang about daily. Gee, of the young stars today I can only think of one who writes great and actually seems to live her music, right Taylor? Taylor is probably the best song writer to write country songs since Dolly. Loretta, keep on being the country queen. We love you.

Dolly Parton is not "late". She is, however, truly great.

I've always been a fan of Loretta Lynn. I love her music because it's true country music. She never forgot her roots or people. I respect her so much for that. She put her money to good use and never flaunted it. Mostly what I respect about her is she led a private life and stayed true to her family. Unlike some of these other stars who call themselves "Country" (Rimes, Swift, and a few others) They're nothing but rich, snobby, ****** and homewreckers. Loretta Lynn is still "The Queen of Country Music."

I don't understand these comments about something not in this story. So sorry about the fire and storm damage. Just thankful that no-one was hurt evidently. Things can be replaced especially when you have the money to do it. Loretta has always been one of my favorites and she is a true country singer not like the newer singers who profess to be country.

This is one of the few places to vent if you do not belong to Twitter, Facebook, major sign in issues, etc.
