"We kind of started something like this on the [last] tour, when there was a reference to 36 cents in the song 'Change,'" Carrie told The Boot and other reporters at a recent media event. "After seeing what a big difference that made, we decided to do something different on this tour, and we chose the Red Cross. It is such a wonderful organization to help people when they need it." Being here [in Nashville] with the flood, and then when [Hurricane] Sandy happened, we made that deal and it is a great time to be with them. It seems like weather-related accidents happen all the time, and then with the tour being called Blown Away, it was a great tie-in. They are appreciative and I'm excited to be able to present a giant check to them at the end of the tour."
Carrie is also excited to take part in the CMA Music Festival, set for June 6-9, and making its debut at Nashville's new Convention Center. "I'm always happy to be involved in that festival," she says. "It's amazing the people who show up to be in our city, but, of course, they would want to come here because it is such a great city. I came here a few times before I was in the business, and as a fan I remember how much fun it was; all the things I got to go to and the people I got to see. The lineup is always great and it's always fun to be here during the festival."
The superstar entertainer will be going to Ireland for the first time this year, and is thrilled to be taking her music to fans there. "Any time I get to go to a new place, it is a great experience," she notes. "Getting to meet new people and see new things and have new places to sing is always exciting."
While Carrie doesn't usually get nervous performing in new places, she admits the Sydney Opera House in Australia was a bit intimidating for her. "It was a huge deal for me because you grow up seeing it on everything," she explains. "It was cool to be there at a place that I had only seen in pictures. I don't really know a place that would make me nervous. Maybe the Ryman the first time I played there, which was the first time I had ever been in it. I guess I wasn't so nervous as I was excited to be there in such an historic place."
