Lohman was hospitalized in critical condition after his SUV was rear-ended by a tractor-trailer in one of two wrecks on the interstate in central Kentucky on March 2. Six people from rural Wisconsin were killed when the tractor-trailer collided with their vehicle. Two foster children survived and were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
According to the Associated Press, the trucking company involved in the accident had accumulated 17 traffic violations over two years before the mishap. Federal authorities had advised states to closely inspect its vehicles. Yet, despite the warning to states, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration gave Highway Star Inc., a satisfactory rating based on its overall performance during that two-year span, which ended March 3, the day after the wreck.
After the accident, Kellie tweeted, "Gregg is not just my drummer, he is family. I believe in miracles & the power of prayer, so it would mean the world to me, my band & Gregg's family if you would please keep him in your prayers." Anyone wishing to write to Lohman can send cards to him in care of Glass Music, PO Box 101, White House, Tenn., 37188
Kellie is currently in Los Angeles, preparing for her debut as a cast member of "Dancing With the Stars." Season 16 premieres tonight on ABC at 8:00 PM ET.
