"The dating life on the road is a tough thing to get around," he admits to Broadway's Electric Barnyard. "It's tough to even work out anything."
The Season 10 "American Idol" winner was also once thought to be dating his runner-up, Lauren Alaina, but he insists the two are just good friends.
"We stay in contact some," Scotty says. "It's one of those things where we're both kind of off in our own little worlds, touring and doing different things, but we'll see each other every now and then ... She's doing great."
Scotty may be focused on girls his own age, but if he was into older women, he knows exactly who he'd like to date. "Erin Andrews. She's pretty special, too," he says of the Fox Sports announcer. "There's something about a girl [who] knows sports!"
Personal life aside, the North Carolina native is also working on a new album to share with his fans. "We're in the middle of it right now," he reveals. "We've got about seven songs cut right now. Nothing's really set in stone about what's going to make the record yet, so that's why we're playing some of the new stuff in the live shows and feeling out what the fans are digging."
