Willie Nelson Duets With Snoop Dogg

Willie Nelson and Snoop Dogg are mixing work with play in Amsterdam. The country icon and rap superstar recorded a song and video there together on Sunday. And if you're wondering what those two have in common, well Sunday just happened to be April 20 -- "4/20" -- a self-proclaimed holiday for marijuana advocates.

Nelson and Snoop followed their recording session with a surprise performance together Sunday at Amsterdam's Melkweg concert hall. You can see pictures from the show here.

Nelson's granddaugher, Martha, and her two friends are blogging from Amsterdam about the experience. They say Nelson and Snoop have become good friends across the pond, writing that they met the rapper in Nelson's hotel room.

"And there – believe it or not – was the one and only Snoop Dogg with his entourage 'in da house,' playing dominoes with Willie and watching Willie do some pretty incredible card tricks," they write on the blog.

Taylor Swift Had Faith in Going Barefoot

The CMT Awards are always described as the most casual of the country music award shows, and it seems like Taylor Swift really took that to heart. The teen sensation garnered a few laughs as she took the stage to present an award, carrying her shoes in hand. She joked with the audience that she knew her stylist would not be happy about it, but that the shoes "hurt so bad."

Well, Swift's stylist might not be so angry when she hears who advised the teen to ditch the sky-high heels -- It was one of her musical heroes.

Kellie Pickler, Taylor Swift Lead CMT Award Winners

Kellie Pickler takes home bragging rights tonight as the biggest winner at the CMT Music Awards. Unfortunately, she wasn't there to accept her big belt buckle trophies in person. The blond beauty gave her acceptance speeches via satellite from Arizona, for Breakthrough Video of the Year, Tearjerker Video of the Year and Performance of the Year -- all for the autobiographical song and video, 'I Wonder.'

Pickler's good friend, Taylor Swift, won two big awards: Female Video of the Year and the night's biggest award, Video of the Year, for 'Our Song.' She also performed her hot (literally) new single, 'Picture to Burn,' backed by pyrotechnics at Nashville's Curb Event Center.

Trace Adkins was another big winner of the night, taking home Male Video of the Year for 'I Got My Game On.' Rascal Flatts' 'Take Me There' nabbed Group Video of the Year, while Sugarland's 'Stay' won for Duo Video.

Surprise Appearances Rock the CMT Awards

The CMT Awards were filled with surprises beyond the upset wins tonight. Some of the performances featured musical cameos we weren't expecting, and some of the presenters weren't exactly Nashville regulars.

Keith Urban kicked off the show with his raucous 'Raise the Barn' duet with Brooks & Dunn. Hank Williams, Jr. made a surprise appearance with Brad Paisley on the fitting song for both, 'I'm Still A Guy.' And Sugarland invited tourmates Little Big Town and Jake Owen on stage with them for a cover of the 1986 Dream Academy song, 'Life in a Northern Town.'

Presenters at the awards included several non-country music celebrities, such as Paula Abdul, Snoop Dogg, Sisqo and actor Tim Daly. But perhaps the most shocking appearances were by the three top Presidential candidates: Barack Obama, John McCain and Hillary Clinton. The politicians appeared via video in a hilarious skit that featured them all calling Miley Cyrus for tickets to the CMT Awards. The clip also featured Trace Adkins trying to get his kids into the show to see Miley. Not even Donald Trump, in another surprise cameo, could help him out. But at the end of the video, Adkins scores tickets from a scalper, who just happened to be Miley's dad, Billy Ray Cyrus.

LeAnn Rimes Steams Up the CMT Awards

LeAnn Rimes added a little heat to the CMT Awards. Sporting a dangerously short prison dress and thigh-high stockings, she and a bevy of similarly dressed dancers dazzled the crowd with a sexy performance of 'Nothin' Better to Do.' Rimes continued to steam up the stage in her acceptance speech for her Best Collaborative Video win, for her duet with Bon Jovi, 'Till We Ain't Strangers Anymore.'

"I had a lot of fun rolling around with Jon in bed," she joked of the video, which features her in lingerie, frolicking with Jon Bon Jovi on a bed in the middle of a New York street. But as the CMT cameras panned over to Rimes' husband, she added, "Sorry, honey. I love you. You're hotter."

Trace Adkins Wins CMT's Male Video of the Year

Trace Adkins pulled a big upset at the CMT Music Awards, taking home Male Video of the Year for his hilarious video, 'I Got My Game On.'

"I'm having a good year," said the six-foot-six baritone. "I've never felt support from the fans like I'm feeling this year. This is voted on by the fans, so I really appreciate it. I may not get another chance to, so I'm going to say right now that I wanna thank country radio for giving me my first week No. 1. I've never had that."

His No. 1 song on radio was the heartfelt 'You're Gonna Miss This.' Watch Adkins perform it live in our studio here.

Taylor Swift Wins Two Big CMT Awards

Teen sensation Taylor Swift has two more big, shiny belt buckles for her trophy case. The singing-songwriting beauty took home the 2008 CMT Music Award for Video of the Year and Female Video of the Year for 'Our Song.'

"I want to thank Sandy Spika for making all the dresses in that video and for straightening my hair, because that's not easy," joked the naturally curly- headed star, who then tearfully thanked the fans who voted for her.

Swift took home the CMT Breakthrough Video of the Year trophy last year for her debut video, 'Tim McGraw.' This year, she did the honors of presenting that award to her good friend, Kellie Pickler.

Rascal Flatts, Kellie Pickler Nab First CMT Awards

Rascal Flatts scored the first award of the night at the 2008 CMT Music Awards, taking home the honor of Best Group Video for 'Take Me There.'

"It's great to beat that other band, Rascal Flatts," joked bassist/pianist Jay DeMarcus, as the Flatts were up against another of their videos, 'Stand,' as well as Little Big Town's 'A Little More You' and Bon Jovi's '(You Want To) Make a Memory.'

Kellie Pickler took the second award of the night and her first big awards show win ever. The 'American Idol' alum-turned-country-superstar won Breakthrough Video of the Year for her tearjerker, 'I Wonder.'

Keith Urban, Brooks & Dunn to 'Raise the Barn' Tonight

Keith Urban and Brooks & Dunn will share the stage on tonight's CMT Music Awards, performing their duet, 'Raise the Barn.' Urban says recording with the duo was a true gift.

"I think he's one of the best singers in town," Urban says of Ronnie Dunn. "I also think he's a modern classic in the tradition of the George Joneses and the Merle Haggards and the strong, distinct, recognizable voices. Extremely unique, he doesn't sound like anybody. He sounds like Ronnie Dunn."

Other stars slated to perform tonight include Brad Paisley, Sugarland, Carrie Underwood, Rascal Flatts, Toby Keith, Taylor Swift and many more. The show will be hosted by Billy Ray and Miley Cyrus. It airs tonight at 8pm ET on CMT.

Sugarland Excited About CMT Awards

Sugarland could add a few big belt buckles to their trophy case next Monday. The duo is tied with Brad Paisley and famed video director Shaun Silva for the most nominations at the CMT Music Awards. It's a night the two are eagerly anticipating.

"We have four nominations which is fantastic in and of itself, not to mention that they are the most relaxed of the awards shows," lead singer Jennifer Nettles tells The Boot. "The CMT Music Awards are always full of surprises!"

Rascal Flatts Invites Fans to 'Bob That Head'

Rascal Flatts wants you to participate in their performance at the 2008 CMT Music Awards. Jay, Jo Don and Gary are inviting fans to submit videos of themselves bobbing their heads and singing along to - you guessed it - the Rascal Flatts song, 'Bob That Head.'

"We have often said we have the best fans in the world. And now we will see just how creative they are," lead singer Gary LeVox tells CMT. "They have been the best part of our careers and it will be fun to include them into our performance. We can't wait!"

During the trio's performance of 'Bob That Head' on the April 14th awards show, several large monitors will be showing clips of fans' videos. You can submit yours on CMT's website.

Paisley, Sugarland Lead CMT Award Nominations

Voting is underway for the 2008 CMT Music Awards, country music's only fan-voted awards show. Brad Paisley leads the pack with six nominations for his hilarious, star-studded video, 'Online.' 'Seinfeld' alumn Jason Alexander also scored two nods for directing and starring in that video. Sugarland is just behind Paisley with five nominations: four for 'Stay' and one for 'Everyday America.' Big and Rich and LeAnn Rimes each make the list with four nods.

Fans can go to CMT's website to vote for their favorite videos in this first round of voting, which ends February 25. On March 6, CMT will announce the four finalists in each of the 13 categories, after which fans can go back to vote again. The winners will be announced live on CMT, Monday, April 14 at 8pm ET.
