Blake Shelton Debuts New Music

Blake Shelton has a brand-new single from what will be his fifth studio album. 'She Wouldn't Be Gone' is a song the Oklahoma crooner says is a perfect introduction to his new project.

"I'm always looking for 'that song.' Something unique, something special, something that matters," Shelton explains. "This song has all of the above. What a melody!"

While Shelton is now looking to his next CD, his critically acclaimed 'Pure B.S.' album is certainly leaving country radio on a high note: Its final single, 'Home,' is currently on its second week at No. 1 on the charts.

Jessica Simpson Says Country Crossover is Permanent

Jessica Simpson has survived her first CMA Music Festival -- her first of many, if she has any say in it. The pop turned country star signed hundreds of autographs over the weekend and introduced country fans to her new single, 'Come On Over' -- the song that made her the highest charting debut solo country artist in Billboard history. Simpson, who co-wrote her country debut, says she is fine with the rather backhanded compliments she's received on the song.

"A lot of people have listened to 'Come On Over' and told me, 'I really wanted to hate it, but I like it,' " she told Nashville's Tennessean newspaper.

So why would someone actually want to dislike the song?

"I think just because my name is attached to it," Simpson explains. "Or maybe they thought that I was just trying to stomp on their ground for a little bit and see what I could do, and then just go back and make another pop record. But I'm planning on making country for the rest of my life, and I don't want to go back to that other world." Buy 'Come On Over' on iTunes.

Jessica Simpson Debuts First Country Single, 'Come On Over'

'Come On Over' is the title of Jessica Simpson's country music debut. The highly-anticipated single was released to radio on Tuesday. It's the first song from the upcoming CD that the Texas-bred singer recorded in Nashville after winning a battle over her musical direction.

"I should have done this a long time ago. I fought with my label three years ago about it," Simpson told Glamour magazine about wanting to crossover into country. "This time I said I wouldn't make another album unless it's country." Buy it on iTunes.

Keith Urban Re-Records Fan Favorite

It has been a crowd favorite at Keith Urban concerts since 2002, but 'You Look Good in My Shirt' was never released to country radio . . . until now. Urban has re-recorded the song that originally appeared on his 3-times platinum selling CD, 'Golden Road.' In hindsight, both Urban and his record label realized it should have been a single.

"Over the years it has always played like a hit song," Urban says of 'Shirt.' "That, combined with numerous requests from both fans and radio about why it was never a single, inspired us to get back into the studio and re-record the song."

Urban didn't want to just re-release the album version of 'You Look Good in My Shirt.' Instead, he says he wanted to put a taste of what made the song popular in the first place -- his live performance of it.

Lonestar Look to the 'Future'

The guys in Lonestar are looking forward to a very different future, without forgetting their past. The multi-platinum selling country stars are back on the radio after an almost year hiatus with a new single, 'Let Me Love You.' It's a song you might not have instantly recognized as being by Lonestar, for the obvious reason that the voice belting out the lyrics is not the unmistakable Richie McDonald. In what the bandmates call a "shocking" move, McDonald left the group last year to pursue a solo career. Despite their disappointment, remaining members Dean Sams, Keech Rainwater and Michael Britt concentrated on the situation's silver lining.

"It hit us like someone smacking us in the face," Sams told The Boot of McDonad's departure. "It came out of nowhere, and at the beginning, it was tough. It was definitely in the best interest of the band and himself that he moved on. So after we got past the initial shock of it, we all sort of took a breath and said, 'This is good.' . . . Where his [McDonald's] direction was going was not where the band wanted to be. We'd been driving in different directions for about five years. So, it was a tough way for it to happen, but it was for the best."

Joe Diffie Sells 'Basement Tapes'

Joe Diffie, who had songs cut by the likes of Holly Dunn and Hank Thompson before recording such hits as 'Pickup Man' and 'Prop Me Up Beside the Jukebox (If I Die),' has begun selling outtakes and demos through his MySpace page.

"Like most artists who have been as lucky as I've been to have such a long career, there are many songs I love that have never made it onto any of my records," Diffie writes on his MySpace blog.

Diffie's first batch of "basement tapes" consists of three songs - 'Tapestry of Heartaches,' 'I'm Holdin' On' and a bluegrass murder ballad called 'Til Death.' People who buy all three tracks through PayPal at 99 cents apiece will receive a fourth one free.

Randy Travis Gives Fans Free Music

Randy Travis is giving fans a free download of his new single, 'Faith In You.' The legendary crooner explains that he wanted to give back to the people who've given him such a long, successful career.

"This has been such an amazing musical journey over the years. I couldn't have done it without all your wonderful support," said Travis. "As a token of my thanks, I want to give everyone a free copy of my new country single, 'Faith In You.' This year has been a blessing and I'm looking forward to the future."

'Faith In You' is the first single off Travis' upcoming album, 'Around the Bend,' due in early summer. It's his first country release in more than eight years. Buy 'Around the Bend' on iTunes.
