Jessica Simpson's been spotted in Nashville quite a bit lately. The pop starlet is in Music City to explore the notion of recording a country album. According to Nashville ABC affiliate WKRN, Simpson is in talks with some of country music's heaviest hitters to collaborate on her new project, including John Rich (Big & Rich), Vince Gill and Simpson's co-star in 'The Dukes of Hazzard' movie, Willie Nelson. 'American Idol' phenom Carrie Underwood will release the as-yet-untitled follow-up to her 2005 debut, 'Some Hearts,' on Oct. 23.
While 'Some Hearts' has sold more than five million copies, thanks in part to hit songs like 'Jesus Take the Wheel,' and 'Before He Cheats,' the 24-year-old singer remains modest despite her newfound celebrity.
"I still don't consider myself a 'celebrity' at all," she told PopEater during her Sessions performance. "A lot of times I forget, and I'll be walking to the mall or at Wal-Mart or something, and someone will come up to me and be like, 'Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh!' But I think it's important for me to try as much as possible to do the things I would normally do."
Underwood is currently on tour and will be performing at this year's Fashion Rocks event, airing on Sept. 7 at 9pm ET on CBS.

The American Music Award nominations, which were announced Tuesday morning by Carmen Electra and Tyrese Gibson at the Beverly Hills Hotel, reflect the unpredictable and diverse cross-section of genres on the charts this past year, with Mariah Carey, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nickelback and the Black Eyed Peas leading the pack with three nods each.
Meanwhile, Mary J. Blige, Kelly Clarkson, Eminem, Jamie Foxx, Pussycat Dolls, Rascal Flatts, T.I., Carrie Underwood and Kanye West all garnered two.
As for Electra, her excitement comes from not only the music, but her co-announcer as well. "I loved having the opportunity to announce the American Music Award nominees with Tyrese," Electra tells AOL Music. "[And] as a dancer and a performer I have a passion for music and know many of the nominated artists. The AMA's are great because you get a little bit of everything, they cover all generes of music."
The event takes place in L.A. on Nov. 21.

Arie dropped to No. 3, selling 68,000 copies.
