6. "Home" - Dierks Bentley (Songwriters: Brett Beavers, Dierks Bentley & Dan Wilson)

It's been written about many times in many different ways, but Dierks found a poignant and patriotic way to pay tribute to the land he loves in his ode to America, "Home." The Arizona native put aside the bar and po-po tunes for a moment and tackled the subject with heartfelt fervor, and his emotion obviously hit home with many, since none other than U2's Bono endorsed the song on the 2012 ACM Awards. During a taped introduction, Bono said he's a fan of the song that for him conveys the fact that "America is not just a geography or a country, but an idea." High praise from someone who knows a thing or two about making huge ideas come to life for the betterment of mankind.
