One of the most influential artists to bridge country and rock, had Gram Parsons not existed, not only might we have missed out on his most famous discovery, Emmylou Harris, but we also would probably not have Americana, the radio format that is, at its core, a country-rock-folk hybrid. Parsons died of a drug overdose in 1973 at just 26 years old, but his contributions to popular music continue today.
