If you're traveling in Mississippi, don't be surprised someday if you spot Elvis Presley -- or at least, the image of the King on state license plates. CMT reports that a drive is underway in Presley's hometown of Tupelo to encourage Mississippi residents to register for a new specialty plate which would bear the likeness of the iconic singer.

The Mississippi legislature approved a plan last year to produce the plates, but 300 applications to purchase them are needed before production would actually get into gear. So far, just over 120 people have applied. The plates cost $31 more than regular tags, but proceeds from their sale would help raise funds for a youth center and aquatic complex.

Hot on the heels of the holiday collection,'Elvis Presley Christmas Duets,' Sony BMG Music Entertainment has created a website where you can record 'Blue Christmas' as a duet with Presley, singing McBride's part from the album.

It's as easy as dialing a phone number -- found at www.singwiththeking.com, accessing a code, and singing your part over the phone. If you're happy with the recording, send it in a Christmas-themed electronic card. (And hope it doesn't get postmarked 'Return to Sender').

It's been 10 years since Elvis Presley reached the country songs chart, and now the King has not one, but two songs in the weekly survey.

'Blue Christmas,' Presley's posthumous duet with Martina McBride, entered Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart at No. 43 this past week, following the No. 60 debut of 'I'll Be Home for Christmas,' with Carrie Underwood. Both tracks are taken from Presley's 2008 compilation, 'Christmas Duets.'

'Blue Christmas' marks Presley's 68th hit on the country chart. It's also the first time in his 53-year chart career that he's had songs debut in two consecutive weeks.

Forty years ago, Elvis Presley launched what became the second phase of his phenomenal career with a landmark television special which served to remind the general public of what a musical force he had been -- and was yet to become.

Officially titled "Elvis," the one-hour special is commonly referred to as 'The '68 Comeback Special,' because of the dramatically positive impact it had on Elvis' then-sagging image. On August 5, Sony BMG marks the 40th anniversary with the release of a four-CD set, 'Elvis: The Complete '68 Comeback Special,' featuring all the music he recorded in multiple shows and rehearsals for the program, including 20 previously unreleased tracks.

It was just three weeks ago that Garth Brooks announced he was coming out of retirement, and the country icon has already made history -- again. The first single off his upcoming 'Garth Brooks: The Ultimate Hits' compilation has debuted at No. 1 on both the Billboard and R&R charts. The song, 'More Than a Memory,' is the first-ever country song to make its debut at the top.

Kenny Chesney was the previous record holder, but he didn't have the bragging rights for very long. It was just two weeks ago that Chesney's new song, 'Don't Blink,' broke the record for the highest debuting country single ever ... but it only entered the charts at No. 16.

This feat is just another ring in Brooks' record-breaking belt. He's already the top-selling country artist of all time, second only to Elvis Presley and the Beatles in all genres. 'Garth Brooks: The Ultimate Hits' is set to hit stores on November 6.
