Sugarland is giving fans a chance to try before you buy. The day before the duo's 'Live on the Inside' CD/DVD set hits Wal-Mart stores, ABC will broadcast special performances from the project in a one-hour special.

"Television music specials become iconic. Who hasn't seen replays of the Beatles on Ed Sullivan or Elvis's TV special wearing his jump suit and giving away his scarf?" says lead singer Jennifer Nettles. "Even performances that I can remember as a child, like 'Live Aid' for example, really made such an impact. We are so excited to have our show on ABC and hope that it will be a moment that people will enjoy and remember."

Tuesday's CMT Music Awards featured several surprise collaborations, including T-Pain with Taylor Swift and Keith Urban with Jason Aldean. But perhaps none was quite as jaw-dropping as when the B-52's took the stage with Sugarland, to perform their classic hit 'Love Shack'.

"We do it ['Love Shack'] live, so we had it worked out as far as the arrangement," Jennifer Nettles tells CMT, "but we wondered, 'How would it work to bring everybody in?'"

Jennifer's partner, Kristian Bush, had another idea: "We just wanted them to play it -- and we were just going to stand onstage," he joked.

Sugarland, the most nominated artist going into the CMT awards this year, walked away with their first of the night for Duo Video of the Year. Jennifer and Kristian take home the trophy for their fun-loving 'All I Want To Do' video.

"Thank you CMT," Jennifer said upon accepting the award. "You've got the best fans in the world right here. I was just laughing because when they were announcing the nominees, Keith [Urban] leaned over and said, 'I like your odds.'"

Sugarland is helping their frugal fans this summer by giving them a live show for only $12! The duo is releasing 'Live on the Inside,' a CD/DVD set sold exclusively at Walmart, starting August 4. It features live tracks and performances, including their much buzzed-about Beyonce cover, 'Irreplaceable,' from their Love on the Inside tour. The set also includes all five of Sugarland's No. 1 songs plus extra hits made famous by Pearl Jam, Kings of Leon, R.E.M. and more of Jennifer and Kristian's favorite musical influences. With over an hour of live high-definition performance footage, you won't even need to leave your house to get your "sugar" fix!

The votes are in, and Sugarland leads the pack in CMT Award nominations this year. The superstar duo are followed by Brad Paisley and Taylor Swift, who each have four nods. More than 2.5 million votes were cast in the preliminary round, narrowing down each category to four contenders, with the exception of Video of the Year, which has still ten nominees and won't be narrowed down until the live broadcast. The CMT Award winners are chosen by you -- the fans. You have from now until June 15 to vote online at Cmt.com. The awards air live from Nashville on June 16.

Sugarland's Jennifer Nettles talked to The Boot about the song she and Kristian Bush wrote with the legendary Bill Anderson.

'Joey' is a teen tragedy song. It's important to set the stage in the first few lines -- sort of when the curtain rises, it's what we see in the first scene. So the idea of, 'What if I had said yes? What if I had gone out that night? What if you had turned left, and everything would've turned out alright?' And then we just went from that into, 'Oh my God, this is a car accident, and this is someone who is lamenting the loss of this boyfriend.' When we were about halfway through it, Bill said, 'This is like the teen tragedy songs of the 50s and 60s.' It's like 'Last Kiss,' which even Pearl Jam did a cover of recently. Several of those songs came about around that time.

Sugar Land, Texas, is not the original home of any of the members of Sugarland. Georgia native Kristen Hall brought the trio together and came up with the sweet-sounding name. When Hall left to pursue songwriting, Kristian Bush and Jennifer Nettles persevered (and prospered) as a duo. But things turned from sweet to sour in 2008 when Hall filed a lawsuit alleging -- among other claims -- that she'd been shut out of Sugarland's future profits.
