Scotty McCreery Goes ‘Walkin’ the Country’ on New Album

Scotty McCreery has remained fairly tight-lipped about his upcoming debut album, 'Clear as Day,' but the 'American Idol' winner recently recently divulged that a Keith Urban song, circa the superstar's days as lead singer of the Ranch, will be included on the project. The track is 'Walkin' the Country,' co-written by Keith and Vernon Rust and featured on the Ranch's self-titled 1997 debut album. (Watch Keith perform 'Walkin' in the Country' below.)

On the discovery and inclusion of 'Walkin the Country,' Scotty explains, "Keith pitched a song my way ... He's on tour right now so we don't know, but he said he might play guitar on the track."

'Walkin' the Country' isn't the only song from 'The Ranch' mined by country artists after its release. The Dixie Chicks covered the album's 'Some Days You Gotta Dance' for their 10-times-platinum album, 'Fly,' and featured Keith playing guitar on the track.

Scotty's 'Clear as Day' CD will be available at all retailers and digital outlets beginning October 4, and features the Top 15 single, 'I Love You This Big,' as well as the teen star's current radio offering, 'The Trouble With Girls.'

"It's not going to be poppy," Scotty reveals of the album's direction. "That's one thing we stayed away from. I grew up with the old-school stuff, so I didn't want to completely stray from that. We've got the rocker songs, the uptempo stuff. But when we slow it down, the songs get more intimate, and you can definitely hear some of the more classic elements."
