Morgan Wallen’s Next Concert Was Already Going to Be Awkward

Morgan Wallen's first concert since his arrest will come at the site of his last news-making controversy.

Fans preparing for the singer's show at Ole Miss are already making jokes. Most seem to have forgiven him for what happened last April.

• Wallen was arrested on three felony charges earlier this month, after allegedly tossing a chair off the roof of a bar in downtown Nashville.
• Last April, Wallen was set to play Vaught-Hemingway Stadium in Oxford, Miss., but he canceled just minutes before showtime.
• He said he'd lost his voice, but many on social media believed the cancelation was alcohol related. Two weeks later, Wallen apologized.

The above tweet is from Ole Miss football coach Lane Kiffin, who knows a thing or two about controversy. The photo appears to show preparations being made at University of Mississippi for Wallen's second show on the One Night at a Time Tour.

Has Morgan Wallen Said Anything About His Arrest?

Fans packing the show on Saturday will be there for the music ... and to see if Wallen recognizes either controversy.

The last-minute nature of the April 2023 cancelation infuriated many who'd spent thousands on tickets, hotels and travel. A sign on the in-venue screens announced the cancelation, not Wallen.

The 30-year-old has been similarly quiet about his April 7 arrest. While paparazzi photographed him enjoying a day with his son and son's mother, he has not yet commented or made an official appearance to address the matter.

Thus far, only Wallen's lawyer has spoken on his behalf.

The non-response represents a new tactic for a singer who was pretty quick to take to social media after previous incidents in 2020 (an arrest at Kid Rock's bar for public intoxication, and breaking COVID-19 protocols ahead of a Saturday Night Live appearance) and 2021 (caught using a racial slur on camera).

What was once long emotional (if prepared) statements direct to fans has become non-response.

Wallen is due in court on May 3 to face the three felony counts of reckless endangerment. If convicted, he could face prison time.
